Technology Tree Team

Behind the scenes the Technology Team work really hard and ensure that we are equipped with the best skills and knowledge to provide elite support . In particular this month Enrique Alanis Fuentes earnt his Microsoft 365 fundamentals certificate.

Earning the Microsoft 365 Fundamentals certification demonstrates an understanding of the options available in Microsoft 365 and the benefits of adopting cloud services, the Software as a Service (SaaS) cloud model, and implementing Microsoft 365 cloud service.

REMINDER!

Windows Users
It is very important to ensure your devices are being updated which should be happening automatically even whilst working from home, depending on your home internet. Most of you should have the latest Windows 10 version 2004. If you want to know more about what is new in this version click here. We are now seeing that most modern devices are now supported including the new surface models.

Patch Tuesday: Microsoft regularly releases software patches usually every second Tuesday of every month for its software products. Please make sure you apply and restart you computer this week to have these updates applied to your device. For those of you who we managed under or service agreement we will be monitoring and will be in touch if there not being applied.

How to update: Allow yourself at least 10 – 15 minutes to fully shutdown and restart your system. This ensures patches are applied, this can also address (and solve) some problems you may be having with your system. You can also manually check by following steps that can be found here.

Important Major Update for iOS & watchOS

The minimum iOS system requirements for Outlook for iOS and watchOS is changing. Outlook for iOS is supported on the two most recent versions of iOS. Once iOS 14 has been released, Microsoft will update the minimum system requirements for the Outlook for iOS app from iOS 12 to iOS 13.

Additionally, Microsoft will remove support for watchOS 4 and 5. WatchOS 6 and 7 will be the only supported versions for Apple Watch.

How does this affect me?

After iOS 14 is released, Outlook devices running iOS 12, or lower will no longer receive Office app updates. This change does not affect anyone using Outlook for iOS apps on iOS 13 or above.

What do I need to do to prepare for this change?

Ensure you have upgraded to the latest version for your device as per below;

Mac users: Have you upgraded to Mac OS - Catalina? The latest version is 10.15.6. Click here if you need some help.

For Mac users on Mojave, latest version of Mac OS Mojave is 10.14.6. Not sure how to update? Click your Apple logo in the top left corner, go to ‘About This Mac’, and if your version is not at 10.14.6, click ‘Software Update’ and go from there!

iPhone users: the latest version of iOS is now 13.7 which carries various new features and better security.

iPad users: the latest version of iPadOS is 13.7

Apple TV users: The latest version of tvOS is 13.4.8.
