Microsoft Teams Phone makes on-the-go easier

You’re busy. You have meetings to take, calls to make, and a busy schedule to juggle. Consider this your guide to useful Teams Phone features that provides new discoveries for some, and helpful reminders for others.

Transcription
Transcription is an on-the-go feature that can take notes during a call. This feature is helpful to preserve the dialogue using Teams’ transcription functionality – whether through calls or meetings. It helps capture and find important details by transforming audio calls into a transcript that is searchable and preserves context.

Interested in trying live transcription during your next call? It’s easier than you think.

  • Select More actions in meeting controls …

  • Select Start transcription. That’s it.

Transferring to a difference device
Speaking of mobility, when on a call on your laptop and you need to drive into the office (for example), there is no need to hang up. You can seamlessly transfer the call to your mobile device and walk out the door.

Give it a try during your next call. While you're in a meeting on one device, open Teams on the device you want to transfer the meeting to.

  • From the new device, select Join.

  • Then, select Transfer to this device.

Microsoft Price Adjustments - Notice to our customers

Microsoft are one of the last vendors to announced price increases across their products and licensing. To create price parity across geographical regions, Microsoft are applying an adjustment to pricing in line with the national currency against the US dollar, with this change to come into effect as of 1 September 2023. Please see the announcement by Microsoft for more information.

What does this mean for you?
On the next renewal date for your licensing, after the 1st of September 2023, your Microsoft 365 subscriptions will increase by 9%. This price rise impacts cloud and on-premises licensing costs for commercial, government, academic, and not-for-profit customers.

ow Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing the way we work

As technology continues to redefine the way we interact with the world, new technologies are emerging that are changing the way we work. One of the most significant of these technologies is Artificial Intelligence (AI).

You probably heard about ChatGPT - This is just the tip of the iceberg. AI has the potential to revolutionise the way we think about productivity, and it is already starting to have a major impact on the way we work.

Changing the way we think
AI can automate repetitive tasks, analyse data more efficiently, make more informed decisions, and help us stay organised and streamline our workflow. Additionally, AI can help us work more flexibly, allowing us to be more productive when we are most alert and motivated. As AI continues to evolve, it will become an increasingly important tool for businesses and individuals looking to increase their productivity.

Windows Users
With the new Windows 11 22H2 being released, our managed clients will see this automatically flow through for update in the coming days. Service desk is available to assist with pushing down the update for all others.

Patch Tuesday: Microsoft regularly releases software patches usually every second Tuesday of every month for its software products. Please make sure you apply and restart your computer this week to have these updates applied to your device. For those of you who we managed under a service agreement we will be monitoring and will be in touch if they’re not being applied.

How to update: Allow yourself at least 10 – 15 minutes to fully shutdown and restart your system. This ensures patches are applied, this can also address (and solve) some problems you may be having with your system. You can also manually check by following steps that can be found here.
