Essential Eight

The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) has developed prioritised mitigation strategies, in the form of the Strategies to Mitigate Cyber Security Incidents, to help organisations protect themselves against various cyber threats. The most effective of these mitigation strategies are the Essential Eight.

While no set of mitigation strategies are guaranteed to protect against all cyber threats, organisations are recommended to implement eight essential mitigation strategies from the Essential Eight as a baseline.

Technology Tree can help you implement strategies as described. Call the Service Desk for more information.

Changes to Microsoft Pricing and Licensing Model

Price increases are becoming widespread in various areas of our everyday lives. Microsoft announced its plan for global pricing alignment. These price adjustments are scheduled to occur twice a year, with the next one taking place in September 2023 for those who are not contracted for an annual commit.

What this means?

Starting 1 September 2023, the following adjustment will be effective for Microsoft Cloud services and On-Prem Software.

·     Australian Dollar (AUD) prices will adjust Cloud +9% and OnPrem +9%

Important to note:

·     This will not impact Azure on NCE as this is already adjusted for business customers.

·     These changes will not affect existing orders under licensing agreements for products that are subject to price protection.

·     For business customers, these changes will not affect existing orders under licensing agreements for products that are subject to price protection.

Reach out to Technology Tree to confirm you have renewed your licenses before the increase takes place.

REMINDER!

Windows Users
With the new Windows 11 22H2 being released, our managed clients will see this automatically flow through for update in the coming days. Service desk is available to assist with pushing down the update for all others.

Patch Tuesday: Microsoft regularly releases software patches usually every second Tuesday of every month for its software products. Please make sure you apply and restart your computer this week to have these updates applied to your device. For those of you who we managed under a service agreement we will be monitoring and will be in touch if they’re not being applied.

How to update: Allow yourself at least 10 – 15 minutes to fully shutdown and restart your system. This ensures patches are applied, this can also address (and solve) some problems you may be having with your system. You can also manually check by following steps that can be found here.
